How to Feng Shui Your Bedroom
Feng Shui is a term that is perhaps more popular nowadays due to its exotic value rather than the real principles upon which it stands. Western culture has propagated its endless use as a cliché that people throw around in order to sound like they are really and truly in touch with their home design aesthetic.
Although its meaning and definition are understood clearly by the “woke” public, its practice couldn’t be any more misunderstood. Feng Shui literally means “wind and water” and refers to a system of Chinese laws that govern spatial arrangement in relation to the flow of energy.
The bedroom, at least on a personal level, is perhaps the most important room in any house. It is a place of solace, of rest, and of reflection. It should reflect positive energy in order to keep the mind pure.
Make sure that your bed faces the door, but is also not directly in line with it. Also, make sure that your feet do not point directly to the door (the “coffin” position)
Get a headboard. It represents strength and stability in life. The best are slate shaped and without any slopes or perforations. It should be fastened securely to the bed.
Always make sure that the space underneath the bed is decluttered. Unnecessary clutter and junk allow for negative energies to propagating themselves in your bedroom. Throw away old, needless receipts, wrappers, clothes, shoes, paper, etc. and make space feel more like home.
Invest in a pair of nightstands. Leave space on each side of the bed and place in the two nightstands as the only one can seem asymmetrical and jarring. It also allows each partner to have theirs to themselves. Be sure to check out home furniture sites like Urban Outfitters and IKEA as they usually have beautiful pieces in stock.
